yes they keep tryinig in Siem Reap, have seen so many times that they extort tourists with a little bit to strong pushy behaivior.
another one you hear is the school money scam and the childerens milk scam and so on..
after they got the money they will gamble it with other tuk tuks anyway.

Also trying charging 10 times the price of locals.
if they would do it with the lexus driving locals also I have no issue with this but they are such cowards only dare it with helpless tourists!

I guess with all the ride share apps these days it is a lot tougher to pull those scams apart from with tourists, although many of them seem to know and have gotten on these apps as well. I notice it in PP and the odd times I'm in SR, the days of the scams are on the way out. But years back sure $5 from pub street up to Rosy was an often quoted fee.

I heard a lot of Tuktuk drivers will try to sell you certain "questionable" substances, but have a deal in place with local cops, and will turn around and report you to the cop in exchange for a little "finders fee." Can anyone tell us if this is true or just an urban myth?

I have a worker whose brother drivers a bajraj tuktuk for a living. One day she called me sobbing and asked for the day off to sort out some problem for her brother. The story is that her brother was driving 2 Nigerians that were stopped by police who found an unknown amount of meth on them. The following day he called the family from wherever they held him asking they provide $2000 for his release. He allegedly claims to be an innocent driver in the wrong place at the wrong time, but my gut feeling tells me maybe the sister doesn't know the brother as well as she thinks. Nevertheless, I agreed to pay her salary in advance and played my part. I held my tongue about what I think really happened...

Like anywhere else in this world drugs are as available as coca-cola.

The buyers and sellers take a risk, depending on the customs and laws of the place and time.

If illegal, then both are at risk of 10000000000's of scams with no recourse to the law.

SOME tuk-tuks are sellers, LESS are pushers, EVEN LESS pull the 'finders - local cops scam'

If you can't spot a nark then don't buy - stick to bubble gum

Haven't heard of it In KOW, though i have worried before and a little icehead punk once started threatening me and asked me if i wanted to go to jail. But I have heard of that scam happening a lot in Bangkok, and heard it first hand from 2 separate tourists who procured on Khaosan- 30, 000 baht for the first guy, 40,000 for for the second (there were 2 so a group discount i guess). Taken to the ATM in handcuffs.

It is true sometimes. Not always. But the buyer does not know when he will get caught.

There are foreigners in jail in Cambodia, who have been caught with drugs.
