Truck vs Not a Truck

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I'm not sure why some people think that equipping an old vehicle so it can drive off-road is something to do with penises? Am I missing something here?

Its like motorbikes. the louder the exhaust the smaller the penis. people who feel inadequate often buy toys to make themselves more noticeable :stir:
I think the increase in jacked up cars is down tot he well known principle of sending old fashined crap that is no longer trensy to cambodia.
When China incresed pollution tax chines changed fuels and we got a lot of prosche, rolls and bentley. These jacked trucks are not really practical. they are built for show, cost a fortune to maintain and guzzle fuel, but even people with small penises get noticed driving them ....

Jesus  so no one can have anything cool without having a small penis, it seems ridiculous, how come this only applies to cars/bikes? People walking around with thousands of dollars of gold chains and blood diamonds get a pass, hey you bought a nice house - you must have a small penis and are inadequate :voilent4:

I am a minimalist. I buy what i need based on price, reliability and environmental damage. As far as i am concerned the penis theory is a result of cool.
If you are happy with the way you are why do you need to be cool? Why do you need an iphone when the workers who make them are regularly abused to the point of suicide? Why by Nike made in cambodian sweatshops? Don't buy things because they are cool and you want to impress the neighbours/drinking buddies/work colleagues. Buy them because you need them, buy them if you want them, buy them if they do not offend your morals too much but don't buy them to be "cool because trying to be cool is not cool

People are going buy what they want, you can name drop iphones and nikes but you probably can't buy anything today that doesn't have a sweatshop in it somewhere, as far as cars go it's a hobby for many people, I've known many guys(and some gals) that work all day then go home and wrench on their own shit all night, they don't drink or smoke, it's what they love to do, if you don't get it that's fine but why be demeaning about it?

I guess we can have a pissing contest on who's more a minimalist, I live very well in my means, I never had a car payment in my life, I like good food and drink but I don't go blowing hundreds on dinner, I have a living room of rattan furniture I've got all for free over the years, I like to travel but who doesn't? Shit I plan on semi-retiring teaching scuba diving in some far flung places, I've had job offers in Caymen and Fiji, still don't mean I can't dig old hot rods and bikes.

Not really having apissing contest are we. you just agreed with me. BUY WHAT YOU WANT. I totally agree, but don't buy what you don't want just cos you think your neighbours will think your cool. We all done it. i nearly bought a BMW once till irealised it actually wasn't that good so I bought something cheaper and better for my use. And of course there are sweatshops everywhere. I just find it more acceptable to buy a cheap chinese phone from a chinese company that abuses chinese staff and makes a small profit margin thatn to buy a highy overpriced I-phone where a foreign company chooses to abuse foreign workers in pursuit of profit. Let I-phone abuse American workers, i am fine with tha
