TRAPPED TEACHER

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Khmer are scared to post on CEO. They see fellow foreigners verbally abusing each other and eating their young alive. Their English is not as smooth as the native speakers. Why take the risk and lose face?

OP - truly sorry for your loss. I hope the embassy can help you get back.

Sorry to hear about your loss and struggle. Have you kept up with your taxes while abroad you could be eligible for stimulus check. If not I recommend filing a lot of the time.you are exempt from paying taxes if under a certain income level. I believe you said you where American if not it might not be to late to file and still maybe get a check. Tax season is extended here. Here are two links that may help.
But maybe talk to a tax expert? I wish you luck!

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Concern from whom? The Khmer government here? I'm sure they actually prefer an uneducated populous. Makes raping the countries resources and pillaging the bureaucratic coffers a much more relaxed endeavor.

That's quite a delay. Hopefully, they will move that forward.

Schools and language centers in Vietnam are already reopening.

I wonder what they hope to achieve by this delay? no obvious rational reason for it. Pretty much all that we know of this virus thus far is that it is rare that any child would suffer ill effects from it. I understand schools are difficult to keep children segregated and transmission is possible but so it is at the markets and shops where people are in close proximity. Plenty of teachers (including ex-pats) have been out of work for 2 months now without pay a further 6 months will be the death knell for this country, how many schools will now be permanently shut? There are plenty of rich khmers who own schools who can't be too happy with this outcome...As brody says a dumbed down population benefits the government but nobody else. Concerning times.
