Tourist Traps
Tourist Traps
Tourist Trap=A place that attracts many tourists where good and services are more expensive and lesser quality than normal. Focusing on restaurants, I'm going to kick things off by mentioning a few that I've come across here, in no particular order. La Croisette (Riverside), Chiang Mai Thai restaurant (Riverside), Samaky (St 278), 4 P's (Quayside), Moonlight Villa (172), Elia Greek (Bassac), Brooklyn Pizza (TTP). How about you guys?

Re: Tourist Traps
La Croisette is not cheap but I'm not sure why you think the quality is low.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
Re: Tourist Traps
Grab and Passapp tariff from the airport.
Re: Tourist Traps
I assume you're actually referring to the airport tuk-tuks/taxis...if you book via the apps and go out to the pick-up point (old airport train station - they don't let them inside now) you pay whatever the ride is worth. Usually costs me about KHR 30,000 / USD$7 from the airport to Takhmau.
Re: Tourist Traps
No, I refer to the higher price from the airport compared to the same ride to the airport.PSD-Kiwi wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 1:17 pmI assume you're actually referring to the airport tuk-tuks/taxis...if you book via the apps and go out to the pick-up point (old airport train station - they don't let them inside now) you pay whatever the ride is worth. Prices inside are a scam too, so is the fact they won't let third party drivers on the premises anymore to pick up customers.
Re: Tourist Traps
Tricky question.
Almost everything in Kampot feels like a tourist trap.
7/11 is good though, never fucks you over with the prices.

Money can't buy happiness but it can buy beer

Re: Tourist Traps
Costs me the same using PassApp/Grab/Tada whether going to or coming from the airport....$7 to/from Takhmau... give the driver $3 tip, bumping it up to $10 since its a long drive.Kammekor wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 1:26 pmNo, I refer to the higher price from the airport compared to the same ride to the airport.PSD-Kiwi wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 1:17 pmI assume you're actually referring to the airport tuk-tuks/taxis...if you book via the apps and go out to the pick-up point (old airport train station - they don't let them inside now) you pay whatever the ride is worth.
