How to get a Visa ‘married to a Khmer citizen’
Read in CEO about getting a visa if one is married to a Khmer citizen. How do I get one? Lucky moto says it doesn’t exist. Missus’ friends have never heard of one, either.
What is the process? Paperwork needed? Time to complete?
Thanks in advance.

Is 'missus' (or her friends) an expert on visa for foreigners?
Are you still drunk?
Have you been blacklisted for violating Khmer culture?

As usual I left everything until the last minute so couldn’t go shopping around but according to Lucky there is no visa you can get just because you are married to a local.

With that response, I would assume that YOU are an expert on visas.Kammekor wrote:Is 'missus' (or her friends) an expert on visa for foreigners?

Otherwise, I am NOT an expert, and so I ask.
You assume I am drunk because I don’t know the answer to that question?
If your significant other tells you something, you never believe them? Sad.
Khmer culture means following YOUR every desires? Does that mean YOU have the power to blacklist people from Khmer culture?
Sorry, god for offending you.

I've been married to a Khmer for a decade, the only thing I've heard of is an exemption for a work permit and employment letter. I haven't gotten either exemption however but I haven't tried.

so are you living in KOW and if so, what visa? ER?
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

Not sure what the current state of play is but this is a report from early this year, and I think PSD Kiwi gets his EOS's via marriage so maybe he'll chime in:
kennzo wrote: ↑Fri Jan 26, 2018 9:39 am OK, so back on topic.
My original post was all about getting a 1yr visa when I have no work permit and do not work in Cambodia, but are married to a Khmer lady under Khmer law.
After some additional hunting around Mrs Kennzo found the rest of the Khmer wedding documents so we went to see 'CALL KIM'
A great lady and very knowledgeable, we submitted the following to her and the 1yr visa is now processing (completion in 5 working days).
- full set Khmer wedding documents
- my UK passport
- copy of wife's family book
- copy of wife's ID Card
- copy of wife's passport (including UK visas from past visits)
- $290
Once again thanks to PSD for the initial point in the right direction, I owe you one man!
Collecting completed passport with visa next Thursday.
I'll post separately here with CALL KIM's contact details for anyone who needs assistance on visa/licenses, etc. I highly recommend her.
Thank you

There is no prakas saying that a foreigner legally married to a Cambodian is entitled to a visa, but in practice foreigners legally married can get yearly extensions. Because there's no prakas the DoI will not accept your application, you have to do it through an agent. You need to provide proof of marriage and with the visa you get you are not allowed to work.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll try contacting Kim next. A multiple entry VISA saves me the hassle of lining up for a visa multiple times on vacation. Just next month going to Thailand, for example. Cambodia, stay one night, then Thailand, then back to Cambodia in a few days for one night.
Working in Cambodia can never bring the income needed. And I don’t yet qualify for a retirement ViSA.
