Cambodia vs South Africa
Cambodia vs South Africa
I can get clothes to fit me in South Africa.
I can eat lamb until I explode.
I can't walk outside without needing to break out of Fort Knox in South Africa - the security systems are ridiculous. Alarms go off at all times of the day and night around the neighborhood - it's worse than wedding music!
I can go out at night in Cambodia without fearing for my life.
I can eat oysters, prawns and other seafood until I explode.
I've been in South Africa for a month and I can't wait to get home!

Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

Ha! I spent a summer running around South Africa and Zimbabwe when I was 10 and I had never seen security measures like that.rozzieoz wrote:

In Johannesburg, I stayed with family who lives there, and they had chains around steel poles in the driveway. I found out that they are used to chain the vehicles overnight when they park so they are harder to steal.
And it was the first time I'd ever had to go through x-ray security to enter malls, LoL.
This was a long, long time ago, before Facebook and the internet, so I actually had to spend hours every day outside entertaining myself, catching chameleons, setting traps for birds, etc.

Re: Cambodia vs South Africa
Sounds like you had an awesome time!
My family live in a really lovely area of Durban - they have a 24-hour security patrol service - the car just drives around and around the same circuit waiting for the monkeys / wind / cat / falling branch etc etc to set off the security alarm or electric fence.

And don't go out with any windows open - the monkeys will demolish the kitchen looking for food.

Roz,, Are you allowed to carry a gun ?
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Stay at V&A in Cape Town and you will have fantastic food, amazing beers, and no security issues.

Monkeys bit holes in the seats of my tuk-tuk - apparently the little bastards just like being destructive for the fun of it. Who knew? (Apart from the lad who was offering to "keep my tuk-tuk safe" for a fee, that I sadly ignored thinking he was scamming me at the time.)
