Time to ditch avatars?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I didn't have the guts to request a Mod help because everything was busy at first.

So when there's time, some helpful soul might help me out.
I'm talking about the one you had recently, up until a week or so ago.
Wasn't that David Byrne?

Sure, we all get sick of each other's avatars from time to time.
They are sort of like CV photos...
Sometimes I have a difficult time caring what someone writes if their avatar is too obnoxious (e.g., New Kid on the Block).
If no one was allowed one, I'd lose a nice visual cue, and I would feel more like I were reading a tedious academic paper. Then again, it would sort of level the playing field-- kinda like wearing a uniform to school.
Also, it's not always the avatar that might be annoying, but the username.
Granted, my avatar now (Rai) is a bit on the juvy side, but when the mood strikes, I can change it up whenever I want.
What can you do?--have everyone wear grey and chant the same slogan? Of course not.
