Have you ever had a shoe thrown at you in Cambodia?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Have you ever had a shoe thrown at you in Cambodia?
If so, for what reason?

I once had a shoe thrown at me for calling the son of a general out for theft.
It was in that awful guesthouse at lake side, Grand View, that has a terrible reputation for theft.

I've heard so many reports from there where, tourists especially, have had their rooms opened with a key and their laptops etc stolen. By rights, it should have been shut down by the police years ago. I wonder why it wasn't.

We have a very garbled and incoherent account on file involving the one you call "The General" being assaulted by a person of indeterminate gender, in a rather infamous dive which is within gosoyamo; with a shoe.
The document does not specify if said instrument of assault- ( shoe ) was employed as a projectile, or wielded by hand. The report does state that actual injury was visited upon the person of this "general" as you call him. After thorough, time consuming, costly and extensive analysis we determined that there was no threat to the British Empire or HRH. Given he is not a British subject we passed the information to competent authorities in the relevant jurisdiction.
However, I would like to remind subjects of HRH that we at GCHQ and affiliated organs are keeping a close eye on your activities at home and abroad for your further protection.
The Yanks "rat you out " to us and we reciprocate, so all quite legal and in order.

Not a shoe, orrrrr in Cambodia, but I once had a (straight) porn mag thrown at me from a speeding car in Stevenage. I wasn't sure what it meant or what I was supposed to do next...
