Thank you.

So, about that grand!

Is it doable in PP? How much is a cheap, but safe area, 1 bed apt , close to shops and cheap restaurants?

What about Snooky. Safe area near cheap eats , and 3G wifi?

I know its a bugger having to go through 17 pages of debate mate, but to sum it up, I think the general consensus seems to be - It's up to YOU!

Seriously mate, it really is up to you and what lifestyle suits you. Some people do it happily on less, some do it unhappily on more and vice versa. All you can really do is give it a try on whatever your budget is and see if it works :beer3:

I know that thanks :D But the thread is about living under a grand. I was curious as to cheaper, though safe, places near restaurants. I remember people used to talk about cigar apartments at $150 in PP. I've not heard of them for ages.
Anything over $350 imo, you are better staying in a guesthouse or hotel , if you are single and don't want to cook.

I can't speak for PP mate, I've never lived there. But you can do it easily here in Sihanoukville DEPENDING on what you are looking for and how you live. Its one of those "How long is a piece of string?" questions. I live extremely well on a shitload less then $1000 here, but my lifestyle may not be what you are looking for. If you don't work or have a hobby to kill time, drink (top shelf) copiously, like to regularly indulge in other activities and want all the western luxuries like cars, flat screen T.V's, A/C on tap etc, you probably can't manage it on $1000. If you are looking for a simpler life, you can. I can't really put it any more succinctly then that mate!

I remember guys saying that they could get wasted on $4 a night in Snooky, so I looked it up. From 9pm to 2am, there's drink deals on. They get 12-14 beers, 2 buckets (8-10 whiskey shots) and 3 free shots of whiskey/orange/grenadin. I wouldn't drink that much. The beers would do me. I think two of the bars are JJ's and Elephant.
What size are the beers? It must be draught, so is it pints the bars sell?

Cool. What a great life! Getting wasted on a massive amount of alcohol every night - for cheap!! Wow...impressive indeed...must be truly intriguing people to hang out with...

If you drink Mekong, you could get wasted for less than half that.

If this is your main criteria, perhaps living here will be dangerous for you.
Jesus loves you...Mexico is great, right? ;)
