is this the end of the building boom?
Re: is this the end of the building boom?
There are some decent eateries on Chroy vanganow, a very good sushi place, the national boxing stadium and a western supermarket all within 3oo metres. The bridge is ok outside of rush hour. If you want the relaxing route drive 3000 metres to Sokha hotel , get the ferry to Naga and you are in BKK1 virtually and at the end of riverside. No need to dirv all around the bridge. Hop on the ferry over the Mekong and go exploring. lots of barang cyclists go over there at weekends. Some decent Khmer restaurants, silk farms. temples and even horse carts. the only thinh it seems to lack are western style bars, no big loss

How much does it cost for 15 minutes? Pretty sure I can't do 3 hours any more, seems excessive.

says 1 to 3 hours. this is because Khmer girls take at kleast 2 hours to shower hoping you will fall asleep!

Where is that? I've never heard of it. Surely you don't mean Chroy Changvar?

I was up on the north of the peninsula last week, the part you reach by crossing the Prek Pnov bridge. It's very strange, all recently reclaimed land. There are a few massive buildings that are supposedly the beginnings of the new "Olympic" district. The new monument to our leader is being erected in the area too. There's a huge hotel and golf course a bit further on. There are grand plans for the area, to me it is weird because you can drive for a few km and there are nice tree-lined roads with reservations but absolutely no human habitation other than worker's camps.

Supposedly the Safari World is to be there as well, but it's WAAYY overdue past April of this year.

Not if there's a fire, not even if you hear the sound of a thud from my home and one week later there's a smell coming from there that can only be a decaying human body and you have to hold a hanky to your face because the stench is so thick that you think you're going to faint.
Even then, don't come knocking...Not for ANY reason.

And a google satellite view shows just how much land has been filled in with sand awaiting for buyers and builders.
Well worth a drive around the area cause just like BoeungKak Lake, one day you will be saying,,,, I remember when ?????

Was there yesterday with the bicycle and after you leave the bridge you come into a relaxed rural area with temples, fresh air and a nice view from mekong viewtower. After a nice passionfruitshake I went back with the ferry over to naga, which is quite crowded at 6pm.
There is a major costruction project on the road next to the mekong where they go really deep into the ground. Should be interesting what kind of a monstrosity they will put there.
Nice Area but dont try to cross the bridge late afternoon - it is war.

My shed is up there, sandwiched between the developments around the ferry from Chroy vangar and the bridge. Still nice area. land still available between $20 -$50, but horrible expensive on the road. Local commune is also very reasonable with baqrangKing Keil wrote: ↑Sat Dec 30, 2017 12:51 pm Was there yesterday with the bicycle and after you leave the bridge you come into a relaxed rural area with temples, fresh air and a nice view from mekong viewtower.
