They poisoned my dog today

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Thefts and poisonings are fairly common.

Talking to a few of my neigbours along the road,I found out at least three dogs have met the same fate in the last six months. It seems there is a sicko on the loose. The next house I move to I am going to install cameras overlooking the gates and partition walls .

Sorry to hear about that. Dogs to me are either pain-in-the-ass bitey fuckers or really nice pals. I'll never forget when my son's (maybe 6 month old) puppy disappeared and I asked him what happened. He was really upset and all he had to say was that "somebody ate her." I tried to reassure him that she had probably just wandered off. The fact that there are 2 dog meat restaurants within 100 meters probably didn't help much, but he reckons he has spotted her in the neighborhood recently. And not just her greasy skull grimacing in a glass case on the side of a dusty street.
Silence, exile, and cunning.

The way people treat animals in this country is disgusting

I don't see much enlightenment in their actions

They buy a dog for security, and then don't check when the thing barks all day, every day

in most households with dogs, the dog is by far the smartest being on the premises, and the nicest

At least I am ready if it happens again having read this:

If the dog has not eaten within the last two hours, offer him a small meal.
This makes it more likely that the dog will vomit but is not essential if the dog is uninterested in food.

Measure 1 milliliter (ml) of 3% hydrogen peroxide per pound of dog weight, using either the syringe or teaspoon.
One teaspoon is approximately five ml. The maximum amount of hydrogen peroxide to be given at any one time is 45 ml, even if a dog weighs over 45 pounds. Squirt the hydrogen peroxide into the back of the dog’s mouth using the syringe or turkey baster.

My other dog is still at risk, I am out of here at the end of the month.
Say what you want about Cambodians treatment of animals , but there people in general have good hearts.
This has been demonstrated today when my Landlady even though has a contract where if I move out she keeps the $500 deposit said of course I should move and she will return the deposit and how very much she will miss me.

I have never had a bad Cambodian landlord/lady, friends for life.

Good luck Ed.

The Chinese Khmer cow who lives across the road and who injured my cat has been warned in no uncertain terms what happens if she comes over and kicks it again.

Most of the landlords I have had have been good, pretty sure one stole our 2 bikes.
