The worst thing you've ever done

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The worst thing you've ever done

Post by Foreigner »

If you were going to mull over the bad things you've done in life (I'm sure we must all do that from time to time ?).

How bad would the worst thing you've ever done been ? the thing you regret the most ?

When I was a kid ( about 8 ) I kicked our dog (golden retriever) in a petulant temper tantrum. The dog was very well natured and would NEVER have done anything to harm me, and I felt bad about it my whole life and she never forgave me. It's not great I know, but I can not think of ANYTHING I have ever done that is as bad as that. I'm simply not a malicious person. Like, I struggle to think of ANYTHING I've done bad as an adult at all, apart from saying a few daft things. I got too drunk at an office party once and said a few things to my boss I should never have said. I'm sure I've hurt some peoples' feelings. I'm sure I said lots of stupid things to people when I was a young man. Can't really think of any examples off the top of my head, but there are some no doubt. There's plenty of things I occasionally think of ad regret, but I can't even think of any of them atm other than as above.

I honestly can not think of ANYTHING of any significance. There must be something.

Have most people done something that really disappoints them ?

By the way, I adore dogs. We had 3 golden retrievers and one black Labrador, and I adored them all, and (with the exception of above) they all adored me.

Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

You forgot this bit. Ungentlemanly manners with massage girls.
From the OP:
I'm ashamed to say that (usually in circumstances which at the time seemed appropriate) I offered numerous times, and was never taken up on it. Not even in the back of house area. I did behave in an ungentlemanly manner a couple of times and it wasn't an issue, but by the end not even that.
I don't care, but it does raise the question of what you consider to be bad behaviour. It blows me away that you believe that kicking your dog when you were a kid is the worst thing you have ever done. If you look a little deeper, you might find that you have done more harm than you want to own up to. But up to you if you want to see yourself like that.

As personal input, my life has been full of bad behaviour, but I consider it as a learning experience and try not to repeat my mistakes. Not always successful either. We try, we fail, try again. :whistler:

Stealing money from my family and friends when I was a junkie and selling a top notch iPad that had been bought for me as a gift and cost over $3500 for a bit of China white the size of a golf ball.
