The ties that blind
Re: The ties that blind
Right it is a taboo here, however it did happened to many people in Cambodia.vladimir wrote:How well do you get on with your family?
My folks are both dead, and I get on fine with my brother, OK with my elder sister, but after so many years I realised it's OK to cut ties with my younger sister, a total cow.
Some say family are like fish they go off after 3 days. They miss them when they are here, but when they go home, they find that there's really not that much to miss.
Must be hell being Khmer, where cutting ties is seen as taboo.
I don't talk to my three uncles in France and one uncle in The States. They seemed to really look down our family in Cambodia. They thought we want their money. We are fine without them.
I personally no matter what can't disconnect with my immediate family. My brothers and i, we have been fighting for countless time, but we talked to each other the next day.

If you know a lot, know enough to make them respect you, if you are stupid, be stupid enough so they can pity you.

Okay, the replies have confused me too but I think I have it all sorted out.phuketrichard wrote:not for u Duncan; - although i don't understand what you mean , "I have never had kids of my own, so I devote all my time , money and the rest of my life to MY Cambodian kids"
for therapist for this statement , "out of fear of becoming my father".
To both Duncan and PhuketRichard,
I envy the both of you and wish the best for you and your families.
Thank you, PhuketRichard for the sentiment. I always prepare for the worst but HOPE for the BEST.
Who knows what the future holds for me.
Cheers to the both of you. Good fathers are the root of all goodness in my opinion.

Bwahahaha, but from a father's perspective, would Electra not be preferable.vladimir wrote:Oedipus would definitely agree with you.
Matching wits with you, sir, is too difficult....especially after my bedtime.
