The ties that blind

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Older sister 1- The rock and in contact once a week/fortnight.
Older sister 2 - Manic depressive schizophrenic I see once a year when home. I can be a trigger for her.
Mother dead. Never caring and believed it her children's duty to serve her wants without question. Racist, self absorbed and controlling, she made all of our lives difficult.
Father. Never involved, silent, distant. Sat in the chair reading the newspaper or watched TV. Uninterested, but paid the bills.

TheRapisT. Really? TheRapist?

I originally tried "Mongoloidal Schadenfreude" but it was rejected for being too long. Then I watched the SNL skit where Sean Connery was on jeopardy and read the category "therapists" as "the rapists."

I laugh at that skit everytime, bit I regret the name too.

Commiserate with you on many levels Mr. KFH,
Older cousin also diagnosed with schizophrenia and the one thing my father also did was pay the bills.

AND MARY, JOSEPH AND ALL HIS CARPENTER FRIENDS DO I REGRET MY USERNAME! Did anyone see the SNL Jeopardy skit with Sean Connery reading "therapists" as "the rapists"?

Although I have two sisters and a brother in NZ, I don't keep in touch with them, [ if the are still alive ]. I call my Cambodian family as my true family. I have never had kids of my own, so I devote all my time , money and the rest of my life to MY Cambodian kids.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

You are living what I think I have been looking for in my life. Much respect Duncan.

I vowed as a teenager that I would never have children or get a girl pregnant out of fear of becoming my father. I've been very disciplined about keeping that vow. Furthermore, the more I see of the developing world and the oceans of children without proper care--ADOPTION is a personal choice and goal of mine.

More power to you.

I feel sad for you,
one of the greatest and continuous joys in my life is my daughter.
She changed my life and gives me hope for the future

Don't feel sad for me. You can feel jealous though. Having four girls in my family beats having only one, even if you are talking about the ''ups '' or the ''downs '' or the costs in everyday life.

He doesn't have his won kid, so he adapted four young Cambodian girls and regarded them as his own kid. FTFY.
