Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. The sniff Kiss

Post by bucknaked »

dont ya love this?

A few years back I spent time with one of the gorgeous bar girls from Snookie, it was a real relaxed GF experience, I thought it strange she did this sniffing thing
I've currently got a Malaysian GF in Australia and I've just noticed she also does this occasionally

Maybe it's an Asian thing in general....I like

Yes, it is an Asian thing. Done in Vietnam and Thailand as well. Or maybe ladies just don't want to kiss you.

I have seen 2 sisters, supposedly never been kissed, one kissed one way, the other kissed the other way, when they kissed babies. I felt like asking one if she had had a boyfriend, but I didnt.

Does anyone know the origin of the sniff kiss.?
I am interested in the story. I understand women sniffing a new baby for the smell but not with adults.

lol good point, they do kiss the normal way as well though

yeah its a South East Asian thing, love it

the Khmer word ថើប - Therb, means "Sniff" (as in sniffing a flower) and "Kiss" and the word used for a "Sniff Kiss"
in the Dictionary the word ថើប is described as - "by touching someone's cheek with one's nose and sniffing; now used in the western sense"

Ksert is another word used for the "sniff kiss"
or as the dictionary says - sniff; to kiss (in the Cambodian manner by placing the nose against the cheek and sniffing).

both words used a lot in this song "Therb oun mouy Ksert" (give me one (sniff) kiss)

Bong Ery Ury Bong, Som Bong Therb Oun Mouy Ksert
Oh Bong Oh Bong, Please Bong kiss me one "sniff kiss"

Bong Ery Ury Bong, Som Bong Therb Oun Tam Jet
Oh Bong Oh Bong, Please Bong kiss me if you wish

Mean Tae Rub Bong Dael Oun Brokol Jivit
I have only you that i give my life

Brokol Teang Snei Teang Jet
And give all my love and all feelings

Terb Mok Terb Mok Kom Kit
Come kiss, come kiss and don't think

Metta Anet Chhop Kung Tov Bong
Forgive me and stop feeling angry Bong

Metta Anet Chhop Kung Tov Bong
Forgive me and stop feeling angry Bong

Bong Ery Ury Bong, Pii Derm Min Aoy Terb Men
Oh Bong Oh Bong, indeed before i didnt allow you to kiss

Bong Kom Chronaen Sangsaey Tha Oun Mean Thmey
Bong don't be jealous and suspect that i have someone new

Pruah Oun Nov Kmeng Oun Eun Oun Klach Oun Phaey
Because i'm still young, i'm shy, i'm afraid and i'm scared

Min Toan Dung Jet Jornai, Alov Dung Hery Na Thlai
I didn't know you yet, but now i know you already dear

I would like to know whether historically that is the only way they kissed.

They dont kiss in front of other people, only in private.

Before the time of TV, they would not have seen it on TV.

They may never have seen the other way. All they would have seen is how people kiss babies.

Thanks Jamie. The first time i experienced "it" I had to give myself a sniff test as I thought maybe I had bad breath or something.
Now I appreciate the feeling. =@
