The single most inappropriate, unreasonable, and offensive thing you can say to a Khmer person is...

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Even in that setting, still dangerous.

Why would you want to say something nasty to a local anyway? We’re visitors in this country, have some respect and simply say the usual “fuck off” if you must (tuk-tuks cutting you up or whatever). Beyond that you’re asking for a beating & the police/locals are only going to take one side.
You completely missed the joke. I would never want to say something nasty to a local nor was I asking for nasty things to say.

If you make a joke online, then best put a  or :D or something. It's hard to be subtle on the internet. You need to spell it out. Like, Haha IT'S A JOKE :plus1:
Better luck next time.

The following is not offensive, but is a total waste of breath.
"Do not take out loans with huge interest rates than you can't pay back"
"Do not hock off your wife's land at cut price to pay off your exhorbitant bank loan interest"
"Do not buy a Lexus (even second-hand), when you already have problems to pay all your debts"

All this I have said to family, then they say yes, and carry on regardless. (Not joking.)

You don't have to say anything specific. If you disrespect a local and shame them that will be enough. Then don't be too surprised when someone sneaks up behind you six months later and chops you in the back of the head with a cleaver. Read "A head for an eye" by Hinton.
