The Siem Reap River
Anyone notice that it has become conspicuously much cleaner in the last few months? Back around Jol Jnam Thmey the river was so choked with trash/agricultural detritus/dead animal bodies it couldn't even flow freely...Now the water (while still a healthy green) moves steadily and I even see a lot more recreational swimmers and boat usage than before.
What suddenly changed where people just decided to dredge all the filth from the river? I'm glad officials got their act together, it seemed to have happened right around the Generational Transition of Power...so perhaps to celebrate the new prime minister's reign?

Re: The Siem Reap River
There's been a team of volunteers in boats cleaning it for the last few months.
Agreed, they've made a huge difference.

Gratitude to the volunteers. In a town with "not much to do," a clean river makes a big difference for all forms of life, not just the human ones.

Re: The Siem Reap River
It's always looked clean to me since they cleared away all the riverbank slums. Otherwise just regular waterway management. Most people don't notice but all the municipal and suburban channels are regularly cleared by excavators and barges.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
