This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Yeah, I think he should just default on all the money owed to China, and then maybe Japan a little later.
China's huge holdings of U.S. debt fell to $1.12 trillion at the end of October, their lowest level in more than six years, according to U.S. Treasury Department data. Japan held $1.13 trillion.

he may default using the theft of intellectual property as a pretext.
he will certainly erect trade barriers.
both courses mean a depression.

the tremendous rise of the stock markets point to fear of this.

the ability to service the debt is the problem.
when enough defaults occur- the whole system collapses

ability to con other countries to buy debt bonds is also important, and lots of inter countries foreign strategies etc, most governments thinks that if they hold other countries debt they will be able to hold that country hostage etc.

A stroke of the pen and it can all be erased.

The US Government will not default on it's debts, it cannot. It can just print the money (or use treasury credits and the like).

The dollar may be worthless but the debts will be repaid.

The US will issue a new dollar and the economy will recover in a few years.

It is the only way, eventually that will be realised.

The problem is that what will replace it as the worlds reserve currency? The Euro is just as fuct.

the world is too entrenched with USD, dont see a big shift to other reserve currency anytime soon, at the mean time enjoy the status quo and watch the world goes down the shitter
