Re: the most memorable time of my life
Great thread idea and I’ve enjoyed the replies. Most of mine are travel related. In no particular order (and they’d be hard to rank anyway)
Meeting and falling in love with my wife.
Trekking the Annapurna circuit and Thorung La pass, all solo.
Saving a trekker’s life near Annapurna Base Camp.
Traveling the Burma Road from Kunming to Lashio.
My first trip to Angkor in '91 (I posted about that here a while back).
A long shallow scuba dive near Anacapa Island where I got lucky and had a lot of memorable encounters with marine life.
My first day in Delhi, which was also my first day in Asia. Nothing much happened but it will always be very memorable.
Working on a Frank Sinatra project the night he recorded New York, New York.

Hey did you hear that they painted Dag's Meat Market?
My best friend's (RIP) reply to a bunch of snobs bragging about their expensive holidays. Lol.

We used to paint our tools with spray paint so they wouldn't get stolen and all he had was pink. So when he would get teased at work he'd say they weren't pink, they were: "Dusty Rose". Funniest guy I ever knew.Alex wrote: ↑Sun Jan 15, 2023 9:05 amWhat color?sammycooke wrote: ↑Sun Jan 15, 2023 8:31 am Hey did you hear that they painted Dag's Meat Market?

Re: the most memorable time of my life
I moved to a small town in northern Ontario to finish my last semester of high school and got dragged into the drunk tank for mouthing off to 2 redneck cops. I gave a false name and figured they'd toss me out in the morning no questions asked but they charged me. I had to go to court before I could finish my term and knew that I'd be picked up before too long so I went to court under a false name and made the 2 cops look like idiots for picking me up. The judge got really annoyed while the whole courtroom was in stitches laughing at the cops. Finally the judge called my name, "Paul" but that of course wasn't my name. 3 times he called "Paul" until the Crown Attorney poked me and I realized. He said "Paul, your case is dismissed". I said "sorry? Oh thank you judge."
I turned and walked out to laughter and actually some applause.
