the most memorable time of my life

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Finally having a real job at age 30 plus, after being pulled aside and being told I’m dangerous and will kill someone with my recklessness.
McDonald’s? Been there done that brother.

How did you know? Decades on, still doing the same job. Haven’t caused anyone’s death (yet), and hopefully never until I retire.

I didn't realize you knew the SP23 lot. One of them, Jeff, was living in Kampot a year or so back. I had some great times with that party crew in the UK and Europe in the 90s.
I lived with Chris Terminator for a while and knew Mark, Debbie, Xander, Josh, Scallywag, Aztek, Simone, Ixi, Mickey and a few others.

I went to their parties every weekend from 1991 to NYE 1993. I continued going to parties until 1996.
Great times in 1991 and 1992 with many fond memories etc but the rest was a mess.

I did know Jeff lived in Kampot. He was DJing there I believe. I never knew him really and I have zero interest of ever attending a rave or any loud music event again.

I also used to go to Bedlam, Circus Warp, DiY plus Rage, Raindance, Labrynth, Orange, Sterns and Fun City.
Was that NYE party in 93 in East London? If it was then I was there.
It was in Berlin

I knew Terminator and many of his family - they were heavy but some were good friends. I heard he came to an ignominious end. I knew Debbie, Xander, Josh, Simone (+ Joe,Jay, Charlie), and Mickey (not so well) too. There were loads of sound systems around like Mutoid Waste, Screech Rock, Full On, Bedlam, Jiba, Desert Storm etc. I was at the messy Roundhouse NYE party at the end of 91. I missed Castlemorton because I went on a tour of Europe in a car for a few months around then. The Teknivals in Fontainbleu, Millau, Haarlem and Hostomice were great.
I have zero interest of ever attending a rave or any loud music event again.
I'm with you on that, they were great times but quite messy with a lot of fuck ups and arrests and deaths. I prefer to live a more calm life nowadays.
I believe Terminator died of cancer. I knew him when he was with Mia who is from Camden. He had a mate called Micky who was one of the worst human beings I have ever known. Chris was also a horrendous bully. I was scared of him at the time. I did hear he finally picked on the wrong people and he got his head kicked in. Awful times. Horrible people.

I went to Bauvais and Berlin. Plus another one in Massif Central. By then the music was terrible and to be honest it was just messy nonsense, more punk than rave. (I was into punk before raves - Culture Shock that kind of thing) Never felt the Euro parties. I was a hardcore raver not a traveller or a hippie

I knew Jiba Jake. He was alright. Total hippie. Don't know what happened to him. And I knew the Scottish Desert Storm chap but can't recall his name. He's dead - drowned. Steve Bedlam was a good bloke.

I'm only in touch with two people from those days. One of them Deano became quite well known as a DJ after I stopped going. The rest - no thanks. So many people from that scene are dead. It's quite amazing how many. Some, like SP23, still do it which is a bit sad but I guess it's how they make a living.

I enjoyed the first couple of years but the rest was a mess.

Standing in front of the nine members of the Supreme Court back home arguing an appeal (while high on coke). The Court ruled in my favor...

Chris was a scary fucker, I first met him when him and Mickey turned up at a friend's place to collect a debt. They were coming down the outside basement stairs and I was about to hit Mickey when I spotted Chris and went fuck this - this guy is going to kill me. I never had any problems with him later, had some with Mickey another time, nasty bastard as you said. Jiba Jake got sent down around 2000 for a couple of years but last time I heard he was a reformed character and was doing graphic design - like his dad. Steve Bedlam was cool, except for one time he was driving this rat-car at a site in Haarlem and backed up over some sleeping guy's legs. Because we had been ripping around fast in a Capri we got blamed - even though we had someone on the roof looking out for trippers in the long grass. He was running supplies to refugees in Calais for a long time. Keith from Desert Storm actually went to Afghanistan as a soldier after they went to Sarajevo etc. He came back a bit messed-up.

I don't know how many are original members, many new people stepped up and started their own offshoots. I got bored with that stuff a long time ago.

Yes those pics were taken when they attempted to party Canary Wharf and were publicity shots as they had just signed to Big Life. Forward The Revolution was an okay tune, as was Seven. The rest of their music was woeful. To be honest they were mostly a bunch of cliquey too cool for school dickheads. I struggled with them. I did enjoy going to their raves but I kept going for too long. I grew out of it but it took me many years to really get it out of my system. I have no interest in any of that stuff anymore but I guess it was good at the time.

Most of us thought they were up their own asses, but they did get some energy going. Their "healing" music was painful unless you were seriously fuct up. It must have driven the wildlife for miles around away or killed it with vibrations and stress.
