The UK: PC madness has taken over

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The UK: PC madness has taken over

Post by that genius »

Burglar breaks in, get stabbed by pensioner, dies.

Relatives of burglar place flowers etc on pensioner's boundary wall, tributes are destroyed by pensioner and neighbours.

Burglar's relatives threaten residents, police ask both sides to respect each other. Rule Britannia. NOT.

How about the Windrush story? The immigrants (and their children) who arrived in the 1950s were entitled to apply for passports but some did not bother. Then in 2009 the landing cards were destroyed and so now there is no way they can prove they are entitled to remain in the UK. They are not being thrown out but they are worried that if they leave on their Jamaican passports they may not be readmitted. There is widespread wringing of liberal hands over this issue and Lord somebody or other, who advises Corbyn, accused Theresa May of behaving like Nazi Germany!!! Some perspective has been lost methinks, or an ignorance of history is to blame.

A government spokesman has now stated:
“The Home Secretary has been clear, this is about people who have built their lives here in the UK and contributed so much to our society. We don't want them to feel unwelcome or to be in any doubt about their right to remain here and she has apologised unreservedly for any distress caused. The vast majority will already have documentation that proves their right to be here. For those that don't, we have established a new dedicated team to quickly help them get the documentation they need and ensure this is resolved as soon as possible.”

But this is not seen as enough, still the furore continues

They found the landing cards. Plus no-one is bothering about the dead gyppo now, so it's all over. Storm in a teacup. That story is an example of the media blowing things up to fill column inches. You seem a little inconsistent in your rants about the main-stream media if you are quoting what is exactly the thing you rail against.

They found some of the landing cards, not yet clear how many. As for being inconsistent, you put words into my mouth, I didn't complain about the MSM, in fact I assumed they were just faithfully reporting the liberal angst being expressed by the various protesting organisations. It may be true that the MSM supports them but I wouldn't go so far as to say they would misquote a government spokesman.

Actually I wasn't referring to you but if you are someone who has frothy-mouthed rants about the "MSM" it's good that you have identified yourself...

cptrelentelss's mantra:

Believe MSM
Believe what your govt tells you
Hate what you are told to hate
Do not question

I mean, how often have they been wrong/lied, right?

If you find yourself thinking a 4-year old would know better, yes.

But then, Arkansas is different, ain't it?

LOL
