The Kite Patch

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Lemongrass is native to India and tropical Asia. It is widely used as a herb in Asian cuisine. It has a subtle citrus flavor and can be dried and powdered, or used fresh. It is commonly used in teas, soups, and curries. It is also suitable for use with poultry, fish, beef, and seafood. It is often used as a tea in African countries such as Togo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Latin American countries such as Mexico. Lemongrass oil is used as a pesticide and a preservative. Research shows that lemongrass oil has antifungal properties.[1] Despite its ability to repel insects, its oil is commonly used as a "lure" to attract honey bees. "Lemongrass works conveniently as well as the pheromone created by the honeybee's Nasonov gland, also known as attractant pheromones. Because of this, lemongrass oil can be used as a lure when trapping swarms or attempting to draw the attention of hived bees."[2]

We can speculate 'till the cows come home, but I don't care what the f*ck is in it. I'm sick of the DEET bath. I want some.

well, lucky for me they don't bother me very often. And almost any bug juice will work then, even those sappy organohippy versions. I do eat a ton of garlic in local foods. I suspect the lemongrass in the food don't hurt either. I've read eating bananas attracts da skeeters.

Lil fuckers don't like cigar smoke, that I found out.

sadly one cannot find cheap cigars very often. Damn impossible in Cambodia. OD take note, bring Parodi cigars back in yer shipment. I can't even bring enough for my usual personal supply as stupid Thai law for that tobacco monopoly makes anything more than a few weeks supply VERBOTEN and you will get a HUGE fine whackin.

supposedly they prefer O+ blood type.

there are some LPG fired traps that emit CO2 that are very effective over several hundred meters- which is about the flight limit of aegypti that carries dengue.

concerted local cleanup campaigns are highly effective because of their small territory.

I can only bring a limited number without facing some tax issues. Though they may be worth it, depending on the market for cigars. I'll look into it.

As does the Philippines. Best $1 cigars out there. If custom's duties are a problem, various online cigar sellers used to take my Cubanos out of the box, take off the bands, & invoice them as $1/stick PI cigars. Never lost a shipment to the States. Wouldn't help w/cheap sticks though.
