IMHO, I think it’s testing. Most foreigners will gladly pay for testing. A villager will think, bag of rice, case of beer, or test? Plus just taking the test (never mind a positive result) has serious negative social consequences.

Travel restrictions over the KNY would make sense, I'm not too sure what measures will be taken. The Khmer Times are fucking illiterate idiots, they had this headline a few days ago:

The article does not line up with the headline, it just regards advice from a few embassies about foreign tourists who actually want/ need to go home.

By this time last year the power cuts had nearly finished. The worst time was the second half of March.

Different area codes probably, amigo, because i remember in late April those full on power cuts they rotated from around 8am to 1pm or 1pm to 5pm still happening because i was sick as a dog and had to live through that shit, whereas people i knew in certain areas of Toul Kork didn't get a single one.

As I said, rumours, only rumours...
I'm just asking a question. These noises could be totally false, so looking for news with a link to something official.

The only thing concrete I've seen is the passing of emergency laws recently, with an apparent caveat that the law can only be applied for a 30 day period. Amnesty International don't seem too pleased about it. https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/ ... an-rights/

Interesting, as I was sick as a dog as well around that time. So sick, that I even quit smoking which I never even contemplated during previous illnesses. Limiting a bit, maybe, but quitting, no way, until that time last year. (And yes, I'm still not smoking, so that's almost a year, down from 3 packages a day...).

Anyway, I do remember that the power cuts were not occurring during Khmer New Year in 2019, and that was about the beginning of the end for the power cuts in my area (central PP).

I live in Vietnam and where I live, all shops, restaurants, and bars are closed. Outdoor exercise is not allowed and I have been stopped twice this week and asked where I was going. Face masks are compulsory and no more than 2 people are allowed to be together at any one time.

I do not know how it is enforced elsewhere as I cannot leave as all public transport has been suspended. (Is that lock-down enough for you?) However, as per the PM’s directive, this is how it is supposed to be everywhere. So, instead of insulting me, just take this as my perspective from where I live (and yes, I live in Vietnam).
