The Hand of God

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

i thought i served a country that will take care of me but it turned out singapore is "made" for big corporations to do business in, that is why recent years there have been lots of resentment and exodus.

wasted in terms of i served with a wrong conviction but i learned discipline and camaraderie, so in that sense i learned something.

like a lot of statements i read on FB or on internet by US servicemen, they would die for their brothers in arm but not for their country, that is exactly how i feel.

What type of UAV's did you fly during your service ?
Do you not go back and attend annual events or anything like that even with your fellow countryman or have you broke off all communications.
Just the other week, Singapore put on a cracking Air Show.

the drones don't work that far away do they?
Well, if you watch that movie the people who fire the weapons are in the states. They use local pilots to take-off and land as apparently that's a bit tricky from 1000's of miles away. But the actual riflemen and target painters are actually in US air force bases in the US.
Oh, and Langley gets a feed too.

Riflemen are infantrymen...ground soldiers, the guys who actually fight, and win, battles.

Target painters need to be in close proximity to the intended target in order to laser "paint" the actual target.

So NO...they are not based in bases thousands of miles away. However, the final decision makers and the UAV pilots, navigators and trigger pullers are.

If you're gonna pretend to know what you're talking about, do a little research first!

I take it you haven't watched the movie either? The language I use is from the movie. And according to it, the laser painters sit beside the gunner in the cockpit so to speak. I have no practical experience in this stuff. One hopes that the movie got at least those details right.

^ Thats a fair enough explanation...I was speaking from practical experience and knowledge. I will endeavor to watch the film when I have time.

Thanks for sharing it.

Wow, that's interesting. If you manage to watch the movie perhaps you would post an appraisal of it's accuracy etc.

A very competent and professional defence force actually, they also have compulsory military service...something I believe would benefit most "Western" nations.
