The Great CNY Getaway: where to go?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The Great CNY Getaway: where to go?

Post by IraHayes »

My original plan was to head to kampot for a few days but my mother informed me yesterday she may be moving her trip to Cambodia forward to arrive next week and extending to a possible 6 months.

I was looking at sticking the moto on the train and heading down there that way. 2nd option would be Kratie but not 100% sure yet.

Bangkok would be nice but the wife is still away working in Vietnam and she may not be able to go. If i go by myself it'll cause trouble as she likes Bangkok lol.

Of course if mother goes ahead and moves her trip forward all the above will be scuppered and I'll sit it out in PP.

What are you planning to do or not do next week?

It is one of the nicest times of the year in PP. If I am not forced to leave I always stay here.

Sihanoukville should be pretty chill this time of year
If you enjoy noise pollution and obnoxious driving practices, Phnom Penh is the place for you!

This.

I haven't decided yet, but seeing that your mum is so good at planning trips, maybe I will just hang around and ask her.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Avoid Kampot and Kep as those places get flooded (almost literally) with people. If I have the choice z staying in town is best or one of the smaller provincial towns.
