The good old days

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

If self-employed you don't pay at the end of the year. You pay in advance.
i didnt, i got paid all my cash and the tax was up to me to sort out, never paid any tax in advance, never actually paid any tax whilst i was in Oz
same as in england, if your self employed and getting paid, you dont have to pay your tax until you get your tax return papers to fill in, if you pay in advance, you get a tax rebate, if you dont, you pay with your tax return
Then I guess things must have changed since I left.
maybe, the whole time ive been in work, if i do any cash in hand work, i need to "claim" it when i do my tax return in order to pay the tax i owe,
if i work solely "cash in hand" work, then i will have to claim it all when i do my tax return, then they will calculate how much i owe,
i dont have to gradually pay it in set amounts, some businesses will pay your tax for you, some dont,
thats the past 14 years anyway, not sure what it was like in OZ but it was the same set up when i was there in 2015

Mate, I just came down off office buildings, I've worked mining and residential construction too.
You are so full of crap with numbers like that. Piss off!

I clear before tax I am on near 6000 amount.

On abn these guys are on 40 an hour and doing 60 hour weeks here in WA that's 2400 a week before tax
theres no way you was earning $6000 on a monkeys labourers salary
the brickies in Perth on $40 an hour are earning $8000 a month, and thats if they work every work day, which in the building trade rarely happens due to weather etc
6000 AUD cleared is farkin easy I may have to do side jobs if weather is bad.

Backpackers i met are clearing 6500 AUD a month no worries.

That's TFN BTW.

Most Thais make that in baht working double the hours the poor cnuts .
you saying backpackers are earning $350 a day?! youre not even earning $350 a day
backpackers will be earning $17-20 an hour!
OK if you say so, but ad mostvon the board I'm here you yuys are there.

I can even post my paycheck on herecforcthese guys are they still won't believe ......
Coz they are right and I am wrong .............

uh oh, the sleeping giant of public outrage has now been awakened and there will be hell to pay without sufficient settlement.
the hounds are baying for blood and jamie's virgin ban finger is twitching.
and wot you doing up so late in perth?
it is a work day tomorrow so we will let you off the payslip issue for a little while depending on how many other unsubstantiated statements you make in the mean time.
i think it is clear that ppl generally don't believe you.
but i was on 140k a year for 4 years in oz and only really worked 2 days a month.
so i am inclined to kinda believe you.
haha- i used to get car allowance of 300/week- and i OWNED the car LOLOLOLOL
i can hardly believe it myself
be getting those 500 a night hotel rooms for conferences in sydney, novotel, menzies etc.
all for doing almost nothing.
