Plenty of glue sniffers in Temple Town but babies are easier to market to would-be donors.

There were gangs of glue-sniffers around Dublin in the early 80s. Like above, running into them was like suddenly being in "Night of the Living Dead" or something. They were harmless enough I guess due to being zonked out of their minds, but they used to freak me out due to their crazed, unpredictable nature. They still do. They'd regularly fall into the river and drown.

There used to be far more around Phnom Penh till the main central slums were relocated. Many used to wander the riverside area but sometimes they'd get rounded up, so if you went into the slum areas near Boudeng for example there were loads hanging out at in the shady alleyways. There's a big bunch on the riverside sometimes and they are scary, they are more late teens and always fighting and losing the plot.

The first time I visited here there were loads outside the Capitol. One of them came up and started screaming in my face, I was freaked out and wasn't sure whether to just punch him or push him away or something. I gave him a dollar and he fucked off to buy 8 cans of glue or whatever, I knew it was too much but had no smaller notes.

It is surprising how well-dressed some of the kids in the pictures above are, compared to the raggedy usual style. It's heart-breaking to see such young kids destroying their brains. It makes them feel happy for a bit, and they can forget whatever other shit is going on, or more not going on with their lives. They are tripping, but on a terrible downward spiral.
