The dangers of excessive alcohol and other friends

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Agreed. A teaspoon of liquid can drown you in that position. If vomit was expelled after sitting the deceased up, it indicates pressure in the lungs, so it's quite likely a small amount of fluid was caught in the trachea. Let's hope (and it's almost certain) he was unconscious at the time

This is not alcohol poisoning it it a compromised airway and far less than 20 beers can cause the stomach muscles to violently contract (vomit)

If anyone has ever tried Greenall Whitley, before they let Tetley's brew it for them, will tell you half a pint of that crap will have you puke

I am thinking that is a bastardised quote used by Queen in the lyrics of a song about John Lennon but I am guessing pre-dates it.

I've been utterly shitfaced 100's of times and I don't understand how one could be so drunk that one wouldn't wake up when choking to death without some medication involved. This is exactly what kills most Heroin users. They're told to always sleep on their sides. As a side note, I broke my jaw playing FB in HS and my doctor wisely asked me if I was drinking beer yet. I answered honestly and he gave me a pair of wire cutters and told me to give it up - if I vomited it could kill me. I was scared shitless and never sucked (like everything through a straw) down more than a couple at parties until I got the wires removed.
