Thank You Gonk!

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Thank You Gonk!

Post by RickyBobby »

Its a tough job being a forum owner it seems. Like wearing a target on your back. Good on you for not lying down and letting ppl trample you.

What a bunch of swinging diks on TOF. I made a good decision to leave there and never look back. There's clearly a very good reason why this forum exists, and thrives.

Thanks for your work. Clearly, I enjoy the forum and culture you have created here.

Thumbs up, from me. There are clearly many members who are at home in Cambodia, have long histories there, are very knowledgable and have great patience with newbies. It shows every day here on CEO.

I think it was in early 2018 or maybe late 2017, I was enticed to check TOF on a bilateral controversy. The atmosphere was so toxic on the thread I opened, I immediately closed it, signed off and not gone back since.

Yeah I agree the TOF has become a bit of a joke with the last surviving members of the old guard propping it up (same 10 posters) headed by the new owner who seems desperate to be like the old guard but is more at home in the expat 2.0 crowd the rest so decry. The problem with any forum is it needs a plan and a direction which is initiated by the founder and carried forward by their member. The owner of TOF doesn't have that, he wants to turn it into a lifestyle magazine for the new generation whilst preserving its archive of when it truly was a funny/interesting read, not a bad idea to change and adapt, sadly however the only guys who are on it aren't interested in reading the owners top tips for a weekend in the city and those who might be are scared off by the mockery of what it is to be 2.0 as they recently defined, which the owner had to join in laughing at to be one of the guys but has now alienated any new potential members. So he's kinda lumbered with it like an unwanted step-child.

-Just my personal point of view; (-as always)
Let's rise above the petty slagging-off that is going on elsewhere. Boring at bat poo.

Good to note the +positives of this site tho'.
Life enhancing, for one.
