Thai visa query

Post by shnoukieBRO »

Hello . As a British Citizen, If i'm going to Thailand for 3 weeks, do i now need a Visa? What about if i travel to Cambodia for a short visit within that time, do i then need a Visa to re enter Thailand?

Apologies for sounding dumb, but i couldn't get 2 grips with the new Thai visa scenario. Cheers.

depends if you are flying in or crossing a land border, as a british citizen you get a free visa exempt (30days at airport, 15days at land border) when you leave thailand your visa will be spent, but you will receive a new one upon re entry

you dont get an actual physical visa as you are visa exempt, you just get your entry/exit stamps with the dates on
the only time you need a visa is if you want to stay for more than 30days

as above BUT
many, ( some) airlines will request to see a return or forwarding air ticket before they allow you to board the flight
Flying in asia they never ask about tickets but some western countries do

come into Thailand get 30 days, leave for xx days
and return, get another 30 days ,

Jamie ,... sorry your not correct on both posts

since UK is a G7 country, you get 30 days on land borders as well
PS u dont need a visa if you want stay more than 30 days

you can fly in, get a 30 day visa exempt stamp, before it s due to expire visit any immigration office an get another 30 days for 1,900 baht

30 days on arrival for British citizens. As long as you don't enter Cambodia and try and return on the same day - you will have no problem getting another 30 days. If the airline requires a return ticket... make one before you go. A travel agent's letter sent from a made up Yahoo! or Gmail account will do fine.

Ok Thanks guys.

So it appears that everything is much the same except they now give 30 days instead of 3 weeks on arrival in Thailand?? :) . The only time i needed a Thai Visa was when i wanted to stay over the given limit.

Cheers.

never gave three weeks

only thing that has really changed is
1. no more double or tripe entry visas issued ANYWHERE, new one is a multi entry tourist visa ONLY issued in ur home country

2. no longer allowed to do multiple entries/exits using a visa exempt stamp

3. for ed visa, you are tested after 6 months to see if you have learned anything

4. G7 passport holders get 30 days visa exempt at land and flying in most others only 15 days ( flying in same 30 days)

5. more paperwork and follow up on 1 year Non B visa extensions

other than that business as usual.

Don't forget the Thai Elite visa... pure hassle free existence at a somewhat hefty price tag.
