Obviously I am not a world economics guru. Anyone? How is this possible in light of current events.
Or has Bloomberg got it wrong?

It's been around the 34-35 baht to the roller for the past few weeks.
I haven't seen it as low as 28 in a while.

Re: THAI BAHT GAINS 31% TODAY???
when you say you are not a world economic guru I would say that is pretty obvious by the fact that you interpret paying more baht for a dollar as representing a 31% gain in the Baht

SE Asia, and indeed the world, may be entering a 1930's style "race to the bottom". China's stock market has lost all credibility recently and now they are devaluing the Yuan to the tune of 4.4%. Vietnam and Kazakhstan have both devalued their currencies by 1% and 4.5% respectively in the past few days.
The Taiwan dollar, Singapore dollar, Russian ruble, Thai baht, South Korean won, Peruvian sol, S. African rand, Chilean peso, Colombian peso, Brazilian real are all in trouble as they have a high export exposure and export competitiveness with China.
The Chinese stock market bubble started to implode back on July 12th and it isn't over yet.
