I guess it depends on how you feel about mom. My daughters are only 8 and 10 so it's not age appropriate to tell them but when they are say 16 and 18, it would be age appropriate. However by then, my anger might have subsided on the one hand and I will always have that soft spot for the woman who gave me two beautiful daughters on the other hand ...

If you want to humiliate the mom, then tell the kid.

I would be fine to tell my kids their mom was a cheat because they would understand better why I left her,
but to tell them she was a prostitute, even as an adult could leave the kids feeling inferior or seeing their mother in a different way, that's just something people should not
know about their own mothers, and former prostitutes should get a chance to escape from their past.

Yes it is OK to tell the son the mother was a hooker, if the father is an insensitive asshole. One would expect nothing less.

Agree with this, even after everything I’ve been through with my ex I have never and never will bad mouth her to the kiddos. That’s between me and her and there is no reason for the kids to be involved in such discussions.
