Aint it funny how we complain about crap wages here in the KOW, but meanwhile many Cambodians still get paid $100 pm or less for working 9 hours a day 6 days a week, cleaning rooms and restaurants,,,,, a lot less than clothing factory workers. No wonder there are a endless supply of workers wanting to work in Thailand, Malaysia etc.

My guess is ,if we want higher salaries we should do like Cambodian workers do, give up the easy lifestyle in Cambodia and work in another country.
my khmer friend opened a bar recently and i offered to help work behind the bar as she was after a barman, worked my first day on tuesday, wasnt doing it for the money as i can earn more in 3 hours in england than the wages they were offering per month ($200) it was the 7-8hour days with only 2 days off a month that made me withdraw my offer lol fuck that

bktrapper would do it for less

Surprisingly enough, soldiers are often trained in self defense. A well-known Irishman who lived here for years had a gig training RCAF troops in some Chinese martial art.

As for the OP, I really can't see why anyone would want to come and teach English here nowadays. It was viable 10-20 years ago, but salaries have remained static and there is an over-abundance of TEFL teachers. I used to do it but don't ever want to again.

i know well qualified people who could teach as true professionals in their home countries as toefl prep for university foreign students on
here, they are paid 1200/month.
it is a grubby backpacker gig, and you cannot live very well on the paltry remuneration, so why try it?

ive considered it many times, and have a long list of people that want me to teach them (barrang+khmer), and ive given out a fair few free 1 on 1 lessons, but without having my own gym and quality facilities i cant justify charging people for it, im not like no joke

I get why some of the long timers are still here. You used to be able to live like a king on $1200 a month from TEFL, and the kingdom really does grow on you. I'm wondering why new TEFLers are still showing up in droves given that the situation here has changed.
