You know how all our western aid goes to HE and his lovely friends for doing a great service to the Cambodian people. Well I am back in the UK for a while and I was accosted with a bucket belonging to a young person with an Oxfam banner on their torso.
" Please donate" to help blah, blah and blah, I think I heard "Iraq, terrible" and some other words from someone who I think could not point to the proximity of Iraq on a world map !

I asked why would I donate when I still pay taxes to the UK government and it was their job to do that, although obviously not very efficiently. I also asked why I would do so when their head office is in one of the most expensive cities in the world and the CEO gets a six figure salary and there were many talented rich people who would do it for free!

Seems to me they want you to get screwed over twice.
I like Philanthropy on the other hand. The mega rich get to sleep at night forgetting about the bad things they did to make their billions and we don't get pestered on the street with buckets as much .

With the huge spoils accumulated here in Cambodia do you think Philanthropy will follow the western route?

You think it's the job of government to provide foreign aid? I think government should enforce the laws and protect citizens from criminals of all kinds, fight foreign invaders, pick up garbage, provide and maintain public infrastructure and provide basic, free education to all. They should collect the bare minimum of taxes required fund those things, and do nothing more.

Let private organizations handle charity, so only those who believe in each particular cause fund those programs. If you don't support the cause don't donate. The bloated nanny state and over-reaching government model has failed miserably, causing unrepayable public debt, which will inevitably destroy society as we know it when the phony fiat currency system collapses.

I'd love to be a philanthropist:

After the concert people could take pictures with him for 400€ (yeah, 535 fucking dollars), or discuss with him during 30mn for 2500€.

A 40 y.o disabled men came up to him to take a picture, and Leto told him it was 800€ for him.

Seriously, that's disgusting. I don't know if it's a common things with American stars, and if you guys consider it ok, but to me it's pretty fucked up.
