Swedish Robbery Victim Begs for Food in Phnom Penh

Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): An elderly Swedish man living on the streets of Phnom Penh says that he became a beggar after a robbery. He carried two signs in Khmer and English and begs for money for food.
The sign says " I came from Sweden. I am the victim of a robbery. Now I have no money for food. Please help me. Thanks so much. I lost 600 USD, a credit card and my new smart phone."

It is not unsual in Phnom Penh these days to see western men with similar signs asking for money in the touristic areas. Let's hope that this case will get sorted rapidly.

Looks like the same sign maker when I get off I-70 in Denver when I drive up to visit the weed stores.
Do you Khmer reading members see if he spelled VICTIM properly?

If I ever got robbed of everything I have in my home and on me I'd still have the money in my bank account

A drug test would help make someone's opinion about the realm (or not) of his situation.

Test the beggers, then sort them.

This guy has been sitting on the riverfront for the past couple of weeks that I know of. He definitely doesn't look destitute. Sure put lots of time and energy into making the signs and sitting on the riverfront everyday. Is this the path a normal person would take after being robbed? Plenty of Khmer people begging on the riverfront who have been through 100x worse things in their lives and are now elderly and have no family and in obvious need of aid. This kind of thing really makes my blood boil.

If he hasn't filed a report stating he was robbed then he should be picked up by the police and charged with "Theft by deception "
And then deported.....
If we get too much shit like this happening over here it will go the same way as Thailand re visa's
