There is no such thing. Swedish banks charge $50 to send a new Visa card with DHL. You can also phone them up and send money via Western Union with secret question if necessary, no passport required. Swedish citizens do this quite often when abroad because there is a Swedish law restricting ATM withdrawals to $1500 per week.

Identity verification via the phone is very simple to do for the account holder. He would know his own transactions and that is enough to verify himself. Every Swedish bank has a 24 hour accessible international phone number that handles everything he would need. It’s the same number you would call to block a lost credit card for example.

In plain English he is full of shit and deserves a beating.
Good information about Swedish bank cards, thank you. Swedes take note.
And, if it was all too much for him, I would imagine the Swedish embassy in PP could facilitate the phone calls/contacts etc

The Swedish embassy is a 2 km walk from the Royal Palace to the Prince Mekong Tower or whatever it’s called nowadays on Monivong. Walk straight on street 184 to Monivong and turn left. It is easier to go there than to ask a native Khmer speaker to write the mumbo jumbo on cardboard.

There is no excuse for begging. These guys want to stay in Cambodia and they have no plan to leave unless forced to.

Didn't the guy say in the vid he's been living on the streets and begging for 4-5 weeks....yet, he says he's got money..just he can't get access to it and has to go to Sweden to fix it up? It's either a complete ball's up and he has no clue what to do in terms of going to the embassy or getting a replacement bank card/money sent to him or it's plainly bs

He talks a lot of crap. I turned it off when he said that he was evicted on the same day the rent was due.

People that don’t know that if they lose their bank card they should call the bank are beyond rescue and it’s a wonder how he managed to navigate several airports to find his way to Cambodia in the first place. I’m all for helping people in need but I can’t teach him how to breathe. If such things are so hard he should have some kind of caretaker assist him. Accidents happen to everybody but this is pure Darwinism at play.

I was having dinner in Harry’s, popular Swedish joint, when a Swedish scammer who thought he was smart sang me his tune. I’m waiting for my long term visa for Thailand, problem with money, bla bla. Like a miracle he received an email at the same time he was talking to me that the visa was processed. Whatever. 5 minutes later he gets to the point, “now they demand that I go there and show X amount in cash! what should I do?” He didn’t have the money, of course not, and I guess he thought I would lend it to him in the hopes that this highly trusted destitute Swede would return me a significant amount of cash after “showing” it to the embassy.

That face when my answer was “go fuck yourself”.

Why would he not qualify for the expat fund? He's fallen on hard times and clearly and is trying to raise funds to sort his life out. :stir:
