US Students Bring Menstrual Pads for Cambodian Village Women

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

There is very little the USA has to offer Canada, certainly nothing in the areas of quality of life nor respect for others. The USA doesn't rank in the top ten countries to live anymore though certainly higher than the nation of surrender monkeys, usually, charity is given to those less fortunate than the donor. I understand the French have a bit of a problem, yellow vests and all. But then the French were never very welcoming of the "pied noirs" were they? French colonialism is still the backbone of the French economy.

If men had periods they would have found a cure for it years ago.
I can see no good reason if it is that bad why a woman has not yet found a "cure" for it, there's been plenty of incredible women scientists through the years. :hattip:

I'm with RickyBobby on this one - discussed with mother & sister donkeys years ago; all stemmed (pun unintentional) from a time my Dad wouldn't buy tampons for my Mum and she asked me to go; after getting the explanation and a look at the box to make sure I got the right brand/size (Ultra huge Brody, ultra huge ...), seemed a doddle and I couldn't see what the fuss was about, no different to buying a box of cotton buds. Anyhow, inquisitive teenager took over & the women of the house gave me the low-down of the whole thing, which again was a bit of a non-event but parked for future reference for when I had a daughter & didn't want to be crusty old sod that couldn't talk about "women's issues". As it happens I had the same experience with Pre-Mrs. Spigz, one time she really wanted to go swimming and was really miffed she couldn't - I got her a box of tampons, gave her a brief tutorial & off she went.

Sure I've never had a period, can't discuss the stomach cramps/pains, heavy flow versus spotting, bla bla - keep that in your "women's issues" box if you like; but as others have commented, there is no shame in a bloke being able to at least buy his wife/girlfriend the right equipment and be useful, rather than a Victorian dinosaur.

did they bring vitamin b6 as well?

that is a total wonder drug in my eyes. turned a once a month raving loony, into a person i dare let have access to the steak knives.

she said there was no effect. it was like night and day for me.

helps with mossie bites as well if you need a reason why she should take it.

if men went insane once a month women would be going postal twice a month.

Seriously, men should not get involved in secret women’s business.
Ugly ain't it, when they do. And hilarious.

I will say my wife was very glad to move from torn sheets to tampons many years ago, and without a word from me - surprisingly her female friends seemed to know more about secret womens biz than i do.

They have become very affordable and accessible - so yes, i do agree with the bit about western intervention being unnecessary at this point.

The OP thread title is misleading, and references a blog post that also focused on a very small (and likely purposely self serving bias) part of the actual story. Once you unpack it and read all that they did, it was a good and impressive mission.

I think though that we've actually established through this discussion how small of a need and priority the menstrual pads are in the hierarchy of needs here on the ground, so those of us who were critical of the mission for that reason alone were not wrong.

Thanks though for Anthony's link, and here it is again if you missed it.

Secret womens business? if i dared to suggest women shoudl not interfere in sectret mens business I would be haiuled off to the nearest dungeoen by the 3metoo court and have my nuts cut off with a rusty razor blade for being sexist! one rule for the boys and another for the girls as always.....
