Streets 51 and 172 looking worse than ever?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. The boys of the CINTRI rubbish trucks are doing a great service in the City.
In fact they could be doing an even much better job if idiots didn't park their cars on the sides of the roads causing an obstruction ; As I witnessed last night in the beautiful streets of 172 😀.

I took a rental and returned her back the next day only to find her the following night in my room. The lobby where kind enough to give her my room key without me there or taking her ID card so you could imagine my surprise when I returned back at 3 AM and they didn't have my key.
I'm guessing you weren't staying in a particularly high end establishment.... :beer3:
They probably thought she was his wife.

They need to change the system if they really want to improve the rubbish situation. That would mean houseowners and tenants would have to pay more for trashbins etc.
Guess Cintri is open for that and it would be easier for the workers to do their jobs.
But if people want to pay more or can afford to pay more is questionable.

One of the most demoralising sights is watching the workers shovel trash on 172

And then walking home down to Norodom Boulevard passing the trash?

The smell is rank of the piles laying around on the so called footpaths, too so are the sewers, the stench is overpowering from the drainage covers. I actually went to 172 street to have a meal and drink last night, with restaurant's open late hours. I live over at Chbar Ampov that is relatively very clean in comparison too where the OP refers too, but there are not too many places to eat or drink after 10pm and the area is understandably Khmer. On the way home I thought I would have a look what was going on over at Koh Pich, I have never been there before, and I was quite surprised. But no rubbish there. :hattip:

51 streets been looking awful especially since the nightlife in the area has changed. It really began to go downhill when walkabout was demolished.
172 street is more dead and grim as there areally less bars open than before.
Of course the building sites and low season doesn't help but at least the road near the market was mostly replaced.
What's the future for 51 and 172? And that empty Sorya mall? :tumbleweed:

I would think that one day that land would be prime for an office block or condo. Sprucing GSM up with a thai style beer bar complex has been a total flop. thumbdown

Filthy streets and rotting rubbish...Dead pubs full of scrawny sick looking people. Gangs of dodgy looking Africans, and a weirdly empty in the back part yet pumping music fronted Sorya mall.
No real reason left to explore these slum like areas.
:?
Plenty of decent areas in Phnom Penh why explore the slum like areas? Even 174 street which is close to the slum like areas mentioned is better, go there.

It's getting hard to park there with all the buses there.
Don't forget the water buffalo
