Stingy Japanese Publicly Shamed in Kampot

Post by prahocalypse now »

A weird Jap was publicly shamed by the Estonian Slava Shpakov for using a Kampot hostel/guesthouse's hot water in his pop noodle.

From the Kampot noticboard:
Slava Shpakov ‎Kampot Noticeboard

Please be aware of this Japanese nationality guy, he doesn't really speak English (apparently), he seems just a bit weird (but who isn't) on check-in, then he will go straight to your kitchen as at his home to get hot water for his noodles and when you try to explain him that he can't do that - he will start to yell and shout aggressively at your staff, better not to have a punter like this one. And he will most likely book online his next hostel

What a weird post.
Is the complaint that he just helps himself to hot water, coming in off the street and leaving, or that, as a guest, he expects hot water to be free?
If it's the later, I'd say it's the guesthouse who are stingy for complaining about it.

But yes, ooh, more of those faptastic pics please.

Sounds like the guesthouse didn't appreciate him entering the staff kitchen and helping himself, which he seems to have done after nobody could understand his requests for a little hot water. Either that or the owner was upset el Jap-o brought in his own pot-noodle pack and wasn't buying food from the guesthouse cafe and therefore wasn't entitled to any hot water. A bit stingy on both sides. But if you're gonna be a guesthouse owner, you'll have to get used to much, much, much worse human behavior from guests than that. Doesn't sound like this non-event required a public shaming on social media. Save that for the real sociopaths.

Most hostels have a kettle, a book shelf, free filtered water, plenty of phone charging outlets, and free wifi; it's kind of the reason people might want to stay there. In fact it's probably a default requirement for the cheapo soap dodger set. But this guy expects that his paying guest shouldn't be afforded boiled water?

Yes.
Every room, in every hotel or guesthouse, should have clean water, a kettle, some cups and a power outlet.
Also , free towels, Wi-Fi, coffee sachets, and hot and cold running hoooaaaares.
What else would one expect when one seeks cheap accommodation?

#sigh# Sadly, rooms for let in Indochina aren't what they used to be way, way back when.
They'd remind me of the glossy full page cartoon in a Playboy magazine from 5 decades ago of a dusty cowboy checking in at the saloon-lodging.
Cowboy asks the exotic young Indian female on duty at reception How much for a room, and the response is "$2 Room Only; $10 Room with Running Water. Me Running Water."
