Standing your ground (an accident story)

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. That's a pretty reasonable summary.

I too am a late visitor to the thread...
1/ He turned into oncoming traffic without due caution (allowing for the "idiot factor")
2/ Not wearing a helmet - shouldn't have even been riding.....Against the rules of the road, helmets are COMPULSORY!
3/ Did not state if he has a licence... If not.... against the rules.
4/ If no licence then he would have no insurance.....

Not much going for his side of the argument.

Insurance isn't required by law. But your other points are correct.

I got cut off by a moron riding a moto on Norodom this afternoon, just clipped my moto and my left ankle.

I was turning left, had my indicator on and had hand signalled my intention as I know brainless riders ignore the indicator. Fuckwit still had to pass me on the inside while I was turning, meaning he was also now on the wrong side of the road. I had two kids on the bike and was ropeable. Lucky for him he didn't come to a complete stop, anyway, I don't think he'll soon forget the spray he got.

I would guess this would be about the tenth time a moron has passed me on the inside when I'm turning when there is absolutely no fucking need to do it.

That happens frequently with the tuktuks, and I can assure you there's not a lot of theology comes out of my mouth at the time - more like Tourettes. Amazes me how often the muppets seem genuinely surprised to be being yelled at.

So. I said that I'd revisit this topic and so I will. I haven't got internet access right now so I can only go and check the board when I'm at work. Anyway.

If you think that I was wrong and that my reaction was inappropriate, then that's fair enough. You and me are on different sides of the argument here.
I think you're wrong and you think I'm wrong and the only rational thing we could do here, is to leave it at that. No hard feelings.

The only thing that I do take personal, is when certain individuals think of themselves as these expat gurus and they give me such and such amount of
time until I reach my breaking point. I can deal with opposing points of view. I can deal with criticism. But when you're a condescending dickhead towards
me, then I become a bit aggressive.

That's that.

Peace!

I think you're already there. Question is how long before it drives you out or you create another incident that does. Barring a change of attitude, I've made my prediction.

If he passed you on the INSIDE, how did he clip your left ankle?

Because I was heading south along Norodom and turning left from the RH lane as you do. Moron ignored or didn't bother to see my indicator and hand signal or the fact that I was well into my turn, so he clipped the LHS of my moto including my L ankle - no damage done, just left a black mark on my ankle and a blacker one against his name.
