SOLD: Steve's Steakhouse just bought Freebird

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

That's what I heard.

That's a pity. I wouldn't have minded going there again. Not now.

Never been to Steve's. Freebird was always good, but the atmosphere always seemed too sterile for me.

Reporting to the CIA. Don't you know every second guy here is CIA or SAS?

Steve taking over Freebird. Paul would turn in his grave.

As soon as Paul left, it went one way.

Isn't the Steve steakhouse guy a Mormon as well?

Not sure, but I know KiR hated him, so he's probably a nice guy.

He's a born-again or something. A friend who used to work for him said they went to his staff Xmas dinner. They were a little late and there was only one seat empty. He went to sit in it but Steve stopped him and said that seat was for Jesus. My friend thought it was a joke or something and went to sit there. He wasn't joking, my friend had to sit at another table.

I used to go to Steve's a lot when I lived in Phnom Penh, lovely location, quiet as anything, good happy hour... and nice food. I'd have gone to Freebird more often if it wasn't for the no-smoking policy and for getting reprimanded for swearing in conversation in front of (rather than at) the staff... which is the stupidest thing I've ever come across in my life. The owner did apologise for being a dick about it, but that was enough for me. Never met Steve but I doubt he'll do a worse job of running the place.
