Silly me

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Silly me

Post by chiltern »

When I read about the new traffic regulations and the increase of fines for the non wearing of helmets I thought at last the country was moving on especially when my girlfriend told me that the mini bus fare to her village had increased as they were being restricted to fewer passengers and motodop's were now carrying a helmet for passengers.

When I arrived back I did notice a increase in helmet ownership however most of these seem to be stuck in wire baskets, I would have thought that the first thing the government could do to encourage helmet use would be to ensure that all public servants in uniform wear helmets.

Silly me, after 12 years you would think I would know better

There's definitely more cops wearing their helmets than before but the law's on hiatus until next month whilst they cross out the bits no-one liked.

I heard the new plans entail banning all cars from the city center and putting in cycle lanes. What with all the good news about Cambodia lately, I may just get the Mrs to vote CPP

Right, that must be the plan with the subsidized solar-powered public transport system and leafy pedestrian walkways where you can actually walk ?

Edited: Holy balony! There really is a plan afoot to build a pedestrian bridge over National Road 4 :http://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/21977/ ... an-bridge/

I hope admin doesn't care if I cross-post:
