Sihanoukville, WTF ? Truck Passes Spraying Us with Pesticide ?

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Sihanoukville, WTF ? Truck Passes Spraying Us with Pesticide ?

Post by Anchor Moy »

Ok, breaking news I guess. Saturday night sitting outside for a few drinks with friends then at 10pm, or more or less right now, I wasn't paying attention to the truck with loud-speakers coming up the road. Then we all got sprayed with what smells like some very pungent pesticide. I suppose this is for mosquitoes and not for our new neighbors.
Didn't get photos since i had to get everything inside and shut the windows. :bad:

But crazy and very smelly. Toxic chemicals for sure. Will let you know if I hear more.

On the bright side, you're probably immune to bed bugs for a while.

Do you know what the broadcast message was? Was anyone there able to understand Khmer?

I am interested as just spraying shit about serves no purpose but spraying pooled water areas does. If they target areas where the mozzies breed that makes sense but general spraying doesn't.

Proabbaly an outbreak of dengue, thats when they usually get spraying. had sprayers out in PP over new year also. I thought they might have been to wash or cool the tarmac but mossie control seems more likley.
or maybe its to get rid of the bigger yellow pests you have in snooky these days........ :stir:
