Sihanoukville Power Outages Making Life Difficult

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Sihanoukville Power Outages Making Life Difficult

Post by paparazzi »

Going on 8 hours without power. No cooling in room and no water. No tv. The Landlord just put rent up again. So he is offering me a hot room with no water and says pay more. HELLO!!! He was sitting in his dark, hot room as l called out " l'm gone!!".

Decide to go to the Italian Restaurant near my room. Its Saturday night. Its only lit by tourches and 75% of menu they can't cook without power.

Pleased l bought a one way ticket out today!!

This is the genius of marketing a tourist attraction

This is why dams were built, so that the area could not benefit from hydro-electricity

Sheer genius.

Where you headed to mate? Best move we ever made was up here to Kampot! What a charming little town. No power issues, good restaurants and bars, friendly people both locals and expats alike, great apartment at about 1/3 of the price you would pay for similar in S/ville and we scored excellent jobs within 24 hrs of starting to look.

Off to Vietnam.
3 years here and made a lot of great friendships.

Leaving behind a young Khmer girl l sponsored at school and thats a real sadness for me not seeing her grow up. She is like a daughter to me.

Sihanoukville has changed and mostly in a negative way. It's time for me to go.

Actually Vietnam has a big group from Sihanoukville living there now so will still have many wonderful friends.

Hey, that's a bit sad. Is there no way of continuing to support her. Abandoning a kid can devastate them and their trust in others for many years.
I would put the kids life and education ahead of my own if they are relying on you . It's a job you start and does not end.
Cambodia,,,, Don't fall in love with her.
Like the spoilt child she is, she will not be happy till she destroys herself from within and breaks your heart.

Wing will not help a kid do their homework, or give instructions on how to clean their room, put rubbish in the rubbish bin and congratulate them when the job is done. ( properly )
