Sihanoukville Budget Accommodations

Post by Nomad »

Hi there. I'm planning a trip to Snooky in May for the APT Texas Hold-em Tournament and looking for a decent and safe place to stay at around $15-20/night. I don't need anything fancy, just bed, bathroom and A/C. Any suggestions? I appreciate it. Cheers.

We stayed at Zana Beach (as opposed to Zana House)recently and I would stay there again. It's behind Tola St - walking distance to the beach and $18 for A/C I think - cheaper with fan. The rooms are not large but they clean everyday, there's a little table and chairs outside with shady garden, and a fridge in the room.
Or for $27 you can get a room at Orchidee where they have a pool.
Cheaper places downtown or on Victory Hill.

you do realize that the first prize probably wont cover ur expenses> LOL
Last year 1st place was only $2,300 for the $110 no limit;

but the $2,500 buy in walked out with $24,000

$15-20 is bottom end
$25-30 beach club, Aqua resort would fit ya better, both have websites

Sarang Guesthouse $15. to $20. Large clean rooms. Right downtown walking distance to stores, restaurants. Tuk-tuk to beach, nightlife more restaurants. I knew a guy who lived there for over 6 months and loved it. Ekareach Street [email protected]. tel:012-708013.

Also downtown, but on a quiet side street is :
The Small Hotel, clean well run, good/clean restaurant, Swedish run/owned. Got good reviews in trip advisor(if that means anything)
http://www.thesmallhotel.info tel: 034-6306162, 098-967979

This is high season so most places down by the beach (and all the backpackers) charge more than listed.

If catching a bus in PP I recommend the Giant Ibis Bus lines (St. 106/Sasowath [river] St) book ahead and if a single get a right hand side single seat.($10. and worth it) You don't get dumped out at the Snooky bus terminal (gravel pit is what I call it) out of town and have to pay inflated tuk-tuk mafia prices to get downtown. The Giant Ibis terminal is by the Golden Lyons Circle, but if you are staying downtown you should be able to get off downtown.

All good advice ^^^^. I've stayed at Zana House and it's quite good. Beach Club ain't bad if you want a nice pool, but get a room away from it. IIWY, I'd probably pay the extra $5 & do Aqua. ps: Reef Resort used to go from $45 to 25 around then. Give 'em a look. They're the belle of the ball if you can get 'em for that price.

I would also recommend you up your budget to around 25.00 and consider Aqua Resort, Reef Resort, Beach Club, or Orchidee. All very nice places. My personal favorite is Aqua.

If you don't mind being downtown, Small Hotel is very nice and extremely well run. They are in about the same price range, maybe just a bit less.

I f*cked up on my previous post. Beach Rd is cheap $15-20 and has a nice pool, Beach Club is excellent, will be around $35 though, & you can't get rooms away from the pool.

since this is about 'budget.' If you take the Capitol bus to SHV they either stop during the daytime at the bus station or after dark go directly to their downtown office. If they end the trip at the bus station just walk across the yard and take their free shuttle bus to the down town office.
The tuktuk drivers will assure you there is none. Ignore them. Same situation in Battambang by the way.

Plenty of clean guesthouses with aircon for USD 15 around. Just book for one night and take a tour around the areas you like. Depending on the length of your stay use your bargaining skills.
