Siem Reap Teenagers Get a Headshave by Police

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I was talking about the silly haircuts that have been sported in the news. I don't think they kept them, they probably razed the rest as quickly as possible and are now hiding in Grandma's attic for a few days or weeks. Nothing more.

You disappoint me, JB, and I generally respect you.

Ghostwriter kills the joke in reverse with his/her newcomer stupidity. It's the old ladyboy joke in disguise.

I hope they'll keep their heads up and have pride out of it, as long as they form a band.
The "haircut" is not nearly as bizarre as the video.

"Razed" seems a bit extreme. You'd think razored would have sufficed.

I've never read your posts before, and have been totally neutral to this point.

Disappointing.

Does it really stop people from committing crimes ?
What should the punishment be for carrying something that every house and rice farmer possesses?

Slap on the wrist with some humiliation so that they hopefully dont want to act cool by riding around with it again?
Seriously, is having a shaved head embarrassing or something for Cambodians ?, just curious as to why its considered a punishment when many men around the world voluntarily shave their heads ?

I've had a shaved head for over 30 years & would hate to think that when I go to Cambodia, the locals must think I'm a criminal :)
If you see a young cambodian with shaved head who is not a monk you know the person been up to no good. Now everyone will see that and they become a shame for the family. Quite a punishment.

I also used to shave my head when i was younger and when i show someone pictures the first thing they say is that i look like a criminal in the photo.

Most people would just assume the person with the shaved head's relative had just died.
