Sideshow - Kissinger, Nixon and The Destruction of Cambodia

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

From the postings I see here, I doubt many have read any first hand accounts from either side of the fence.
Can you be more specific? I don't understand who your post is aimed at.

The domino-thingy was a THEORY, as its name implies. Your sentence sounded as if you would think it is 'real'. Oh, wait, didnt Cambodia become communist after the Land of Glory left?

So... sure did the USA lose the war, and the 65.000 soldiers they have lost, still furiously bemoaned, are appearing rather insignificant compared to more than 2 million Vietnamese.

Ho Chi Minh said "We can lose 10 and they can lose 1, and we will still win."

Someone once told me the Chinese were also sending soldiers in and dressing them as Vietnamese Rice Farmers. No idea how valid that claim is.

It's kind of weird:

The Americans lost in Vietnam with a conventional army against a Local Army that was backed by the USSR.

But the Russians lost in Afghanistan with a conventional army against a Local Army that was backed by the CIA.

Lao Vietnam Cambodia fell yes. But Thailand didnt..Malaysia didnt...Singapore didn't...Indonesia didn't(with some help from america).

Now with that being said. Whats a nicer country? Singapore or Ass fuck me Laos? Also Vietnam and Cambodia had to change over because like you said human behavior. BUT now what you have in Vietnam is this fucked up hybrid between the 2 just like China. Economically free...socially not.

Now in America flip it....you are socially free but not economically free and its getting worst and worst under this fanatical left wing loon named Barry O.

I rest my case. I'm right. dont bother responding.

And I love how Canadians love to put their 2 cents in American politics like they are American. I got 1 Canadian friend and all he does is talk about United States. I have to remind him just cause we are on the same land mass doesnt mean I want your shitty healthcare system in my country.

Brings up another thing...every hooker from Canada I met have been arrested in the U.S while trying to see a U.S Doctor. Cant imagine why!
You're a nobody in the gutter with a Smartphone in your a hand.

I'll put my 2 cents in about whatever I feel like. I don't care if you love it or not.

I find the 20th century history absolutely fascinating, America especially. And the fact that I live in a world where America is a powerful force is all the more reason for me to think and talk about it with others, regardless whatever country I come from.

For the record: I'm not Anti-American.

I'm glad Americans and Canadians get along and are allies. Some of my best friends are Americans. I hang out with Americans every week. I think it's the most innovative country ever.

Doesn't mean they haven't made some mistakes or don't have weaknesses.

America isn't perfect, nor is Canada.

Allegedly.
And nothing wrong with being Canadian. Understand the British military likes your soldiers.

What do you think if China or the Russians invaded Canada? Do you think the Brits and Yanks wouldn't come and help us?
