Should travellers boycott Thailand...Read on!

Post by snookie BRO »

I can't help but notice that the Thai border Army seem to be unable to stop murdering poor Cambodians who attempt to seek out a way of making a living. It's disgusting that they think it's ok to shoot at un armed Cambodians. Recent news suggests they burned alive 2 of them. What is the need for this evil behaviour?

What do you think?

They are poachers stealing natural resources and destroying nature reserves. Shoot away, whether they be Thai or Khmer poachers.

No. If you wanted to boycott every counry that did bad things you'd have to shoot yourself.

It's not propaganda, this type of thing is nothing new, the Thai Border Patrol Police and Army have been murdering Cambodians, Burmese and others for decades. A whole lot of them.

It's never been an issue when Cambodian natural resources like timber or precious stones are flowing into Thailand, mostly in collusion with the military on both sides of the border. It's seems to be only small fry who end up getting killed.

Do you have any evidence that any of the 3 specific killings under discussion

1 The lady digging potatoes

2 The 2 border crosser burnt alive

were stealing? If so why did the Thais never mention stealing, apologize for killing the lady and pay some small compensation to her family,

What do you think is a fair standard for burning people alive? Or just follow your dreams and burn away.

Yup.

It may not be reason to boycott the country, but it's definitely not propaganda. It's long and well-established practice.

true they have killed those that have come into their country illegally for whatever reasons

but that happens around the world (us has killed a few Mexicans as well)
