Shit I fucking hate

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Cambo wedding/funerals with the loud music and monks chanting at max warp at O-dark-30, Cambodian drivers, container/beer trucks on Hwy #4, attorneys, judges, police, liver, mosquitos, cheap Chinese crap you buy here, and last but not least my ex-wife(may she rot in hell)
Not all Cambodian drivers are bad, there are people who drive properly and obey the traffic law as well.
SM lives in SHV as do I. The drivers down here are the craziest I've seen anywhere in the world. Far far worse than PP. The only Khmer who obey any rules of the road down here are in cars. On bikes it's just a lawless free for all. 1/2 of them in cars drive pretty well, the other 1/2 follow the rules of the jungle - the biggest vehicle has the right of way at all times regardless of lights or the natural flow of traffic.
I had been driving almost everyday from my house to the city for 3 years as i had to study in high school in the city. I had never had road accident. To be honest, i didn't feel that people in sihanoukville drive crazily comparing to Phnom Penh, maybe it has changed, i am not sure.
I've been to 40-50 countries (most in the 3rd world) & I've never seen anywhere near the complete disregard of driving laws like in my home town of SV. Somebody pulls a mind numbingly stupid maneuver that almost causes a crash almost every km I ride. I'm getting close to buying an SUV.

I ride less than 5km to work every day, but within that short distance inbred retards pull at least 20 stupid moves. No sense of self-preservation, no consideration. I think most Khmer drivers consider only 3 people: me/myself/I.

That's because those lists are compiled based on deaths per 100,000 of population. What they don't take into account is market penetration of cars, trucks, buses, etc. on the roads. Given that car ownership is a distinctly minority sport in the Kingdom but a major deal in Thailand, for example, the lists don't compare apples with apples...

I'm not saying Cambodians are the worst drivers in the world. In general I think they drive more safely than some places I've been, even Thailand. I'm saying that the drivers/riders in SV are the worst. BTW - having to breath burning plastic all the time pisses me off a lot more.

Indeed, and Cambodia is not famous for keeping accurate records.

Many accidents go unreported so as to avoid vulture police.

I'm almost in the middle of downtown & love the apt otherwise. I wish the government would teach people how dangerous burning plastic is

I fail to recognize the argument that traffic accidents with a death toll go unreported with the local police authorities.

Hey sit down if you like, over a $2 jug and start counting to a hundred thousand, take out the drunk driving carelessnes, old moto's, bad brakes, too many people going too fast on one vehicle (cause they can't afford else) I'd say no reason to get all paranoid about getting around, better to go with the flow than start using your own body out there to teach people elsewise. it's not going to happen.

Tourist bitch down the Riverside almost walking out in front of me going at speed cause she was 'using the cross walk'.. wtf

merge bitch, merge..
