Sher-e-Punjab open again!

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

I wish I could concur with you coz it used to be one of my regular eating places. Since it's been open about a month, I've returned twice and picked a couple of my favourite dishes and was sorely disappointed..did't taste anything like before for me. Lamb was tough as old boots.

My GF knows one of the workers there and apparently some regular customers have been complaining. She said there are 2 new cooks and the tall young Nepalese guy that used to run it as a tight ship apparently won't be returning either.

I've also noted a distinct lack of regular indian clientele too..not a good sign.

Hoping it will improve and return to the previous glory days.

I think it had been on a downhill slide for quite some time.

I wish I had seen this thread last night! That is before I went to eat at the restaurant.
I have eaten many Indian food dishes from India to Bradford. I had been looking forward to having a meal last night, especially with mutton on the menu. The meal starter and main dish cost around $5 more than it would be in the UK. And it was the worst Indian meal ever. I would never go again.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

You can always tell if the Nepalese guy is in town as the restaurant is clean, the staff are respectful, and the food is good. If he's not - all bets are off, the staff prepare Khmer-styled Indian food.

The tall Nepalese guy indeed made the place. Thanks for the warning!

While there about a week after it reopened I asked about the "Nepalese guy". I was told that he was still recuperating from injuries from the fire and that he would be back to work in about a months time.

In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

My guess is they are trying to do business? The only Indians I go to are not on Riverside, most are around BKK 1.
